Yoga offers us a vital and invaluable opportunity to attune our senses to the innate wisdom of our body. Practicing attention, discernment and creative agency are all part of the process, which is more about our state of mind (in and out of poses and our meditation seat) as anything else. It’s important that we each take responsibility for our wellbeing as ultimately, we are our own best teachers. By practicing with me, it is assumed that you agree to the following:
All kinds of bodies, minds and souls are welcome to join for these practices, where you will be encouraged to explore all that yoga has to offer with total mind-body awareness for what you need and the level of challenge that suits you best. Yoga asanas (physical postures) provide many benefits and as with any physical activity, there are always risks involved. While you will be carefully guided through the practice, with modifications offered where possible, your participation assumes that you take full responsibility for your own wellbeing and gauge the suitability of every element based on your personal capacity.
You know your body and mind best. Developing a sense of deep awareness and practicing with humility is key. As you work towards finding your personal expression of various states of being, remember that one of the goals is to find the midpoint between effort and ease, challenge and relaxation. Therefore your progress, and your enjoyment of each moment, will be greater if you take it steady to begin with and build up from there. Always listen to your body and rest at any point that you need to.
The techniques and suggestions offered to you are not intended to substitute for professional medical advice. Please consult your physician before beginning any new movement regime and/or if you have any particular physical or psychological concerns or needs that require specialist attention.
If you are pregnant, note that while some guidance can be provided to help you keep yourself safe, I am not an expert in this area. As with all physical states, it is recommended that you approach your practice mindfully. I assume no responsibility for injuries suffered while practicing these techniques.
